Avatar Studios does not publish fixed price lists because the cost of doing something properly depends on what the work actually involves. What we do publish is how we structure engagements, what each type of engagement typically includes, and what honest ranges look like for businesses planning a project budget.
How Engagements Are Structured
Every Avatar Studios engagement starts with a discovery session. This is a working conversation, not a sales call. We learn what you are trying to achieve, what exists today, and what constraints we are working within. From that session, we produce a written brief and a scoped proposal. Nothing starts without those two documents in place.
Work is structured in milestones with defined outputs. You see progress every week. You do not receive a status update two months in telling you we are on track but you still cannot see anything.
Engagement Types and Typical Investment
Strategy Engagements
Strategy sprints are fixed-scope engagements producing a defined deliverable: an AI roadmap, a technology assessment, a product brief, or an innovation workshop series. These typically run three to six weeks and are priced on a fixed-fee basis. Most strategy engagements sit in the range of $8,000 to $25,000 AUD depending on scope and depth.
Digital Product Development
Product development engagements range from focused eight-week builds for well-scoped applications to multi-phase programmes for complex platforms. Pricing is fixed per milestone. Discovery and specification phases are scoped and priced separately from build phases, ensuring you know exactly what you are committing to before development starts. Most bespoke web application projects range from $30,000 to $120,000 AUD.
AI Implementation
AI implementation work (agents, process automation, tools setup) is scoped based on the complexity of the agent, the number of systems involved, and the guardrails required. Simple automation projects start from $5,000 AUD. Custom AI agent development for production environments typically ranges from $15,000 to $60,000 AUD depending on scope.
Growth and SEO Programmes
SEO and content strategy engagements are typically structured as three- or six-month programmes with a defined scope. Monthly investment for an active SEO programme typically ranges from $2,500 to $6,000 AUD depending on the volume of content, technical work, and competitive intensity of the target keywords.
What Is Not Negotiable
We do not do spec work. We do not produce strategy documents or designs on a speculative basis in hope of winning a build contract. Discovery is a paid engagement because the work has value regardless of what follows.
We do not pad retainers. If the work is done and the goal is achieved, we tell you. We do not invent additional scope to extend a billing relationship.
We do not work with businesses where we cannot see a clear path to a meaningful outcome. If we do not believe we can create real value for your project, we will tell you in the first conversation.
Next Steps
If you have a project in mind, start with a discovery conversation. There is no cost to that conversation. Contact us and tell us what you are working on. We will respond within one business day.
Common Questions About Working With Avatar Studios
Do you work on a retainer or project basis?
Both, depending on the nature of the work. Strategy, product development, and implementation engagements are typically fixed-scope, fixed-price projects. Ongoing work (SEO programmes, advisory relationships, or post-launch maintenance) can be structured as monthly engagements with a defined scope reviewed each quarter. We do not sell open-ended retainers without a clear deliverable tied to them.
Can the scope change once a project has started?
Scope changes are handled through a formal change process. If new requirements emerge during delivery, we assess the impact on timeline and cost, document the change, and both parties agree before work proceeds. This protects you from hidden cost blowouts and protects us from scope creep that degrades the quality of the original deliverable.
What happens after a project is delivered?
Most clients move into some form of ongoing support, optimisation, or next-phase work after an initial engagement. We offer post-launch support periods included in project proposals, and ongoing advisory or programme work where it makes sense. You are not locked in: our goal is to deliver something valuable enough that you want to continue working together, not to make it hard to leave.
Is there a minimum project size?
There is no formal minimum, but given our model (senior-led, fixed-scope engagements), projects below $5,000 AUD are rarely a good fit. That threshold is not about revenue; it is about ensuring we can do the work properly. A project scoped too thin tends to produce results that do not hold up. We would rather help you think through a realistic scope than take on work we cannot execute well.
